Located just south of Charlottesville, Virginia, and within a few miles of Thomas Jefferson's Monticello and James Monroe's Ash Lawn estate, the Kluge Estate Winery & Vineyard is one of the premier wineries in Virginia. The winery seeks to become a destination not just for wine enthusiasts, but also for visitors who wish to come experience the breadth and beauty of the Virginia Piedmont.
The Estate has asked McKee Carson to develop a master plan which is focused in three ways: to improve the Estate's sustainability, expand the visitor's experience, and enhance the vineyard's connection to the surrounding Piedmont landscape.
McKee Carson's master plan for the Estate is currently under development. In close collaboration with the Estate, we are developing strategies for incorporating wildlife and riparian corridors through the agricultural
areas of the Estate, the establishment of sustainable timber managment practices, and the production of biofuels to support the vineyard's mechanical equipment.
