Over the years man has discovered many uses for the horse. The sports that have evolved around this animal are equally diverse. Within the equestrian sports, those activities that have the largest followings and which require specialized facilities include: polo, cross-country racing, show jumping, dressage, rodeo, breeding programs and training. Field Sport Concepts, Ltd. has the expertise to develop professionally certified fields, courses, arenas and other venues to meet the high standards of discriminating equestrians.

Because horses are large animals that oftentimes represent a considerable financial investment, equestrian facilities require attention to detail in their design, placement and upkeep. Critical design considerations include, but are not limited to topography, drainage, air circulation, access, security, fire-suppression and waste management. While certain facilities are unique to a particular form of equestrian pursuit, the vast majority of improvements associated with horsemanship and husbandry are common to all facets of the sport. For the sake of efficiency, the basic components of an equestrian complex are best configured as a compound. Stables, storage and equipment barns, arenas, show rings, exercise pens and day paddocks typically need to be included in the primary horse compound and configured in a way that facilitates safe and fluid interaction between activity areas. Residential quarters are many times incorporated into the main compound to provide security and oversight.

Fenced pastures with run-in sheds, cross-country courses and trail systems are usually located outboard of the equestrian nexus yet connected either physically or visibly to afford appropriate integration. Hay and grain-crop production areas typically serve as a buffer between the more active areas of an equestrian facility and adjacent land uses.
